The Operation Manager will be responsible for the management of the daily activities on the PM shift, experience working in a Unionized Environment is a must, must be able to work shift work to cover all shift when necessary. In-depth working knowledge in moving freight and methodologies in achieving on time delivery, container unit maximization, and adherence to safety and compliance

Manages the Dock Supervisors
Responsible for seeing that outbound freight is loaded into Linehaul and P&D units in time to meet service requirements
Responsible for inbound freight is correctly routed to the proper P&D units
Manages the lift truck fleet and contract
Manages the shunt service, their drivers, productivity and contract
Collaborates with Dispatch to ensure YOP (Yard Operating Plan) is functioning as designed
Manages the day to day interaction with the union
Responsible for coordinating effective dock employee shift scheduling with a focus to control cost
Responsible for calculating and preparing the Dock Supervisor SIP
Responsible for establishing and maintaining performance indicators (KPI��¢??s) to track and monitor productivity of dock and dockworkers
Backing up dock supervisory staff as required

Working Conditions: General office conditions plus frequent time on the dock
Responsible for managing the Dock functions at all hours. This may require flexible hours from time to time.

Education / Training: College degree in business, Transportation, Logistics or related field or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
